Almost Out Loud is a WLW (women-loving-women) slow-burn romance told as a vertical short-form series. It follows Mara and Leah, two women with a shared past who reconnect as adults and unexpectedly become neighbours. Their old rhythm returns at once — the teasing, the private jokes — and underneath it sits the feeling they have spent years refusing to name.

Mara is a guarded, observant and steady book editor who treats her own feelings like an unfinished manuscript: private until they feel safe. Leah is a warm, quick and magnetic publicist who has never quite settled anywhere. They are each other’s exception: Mara is the one person Leah wants to stop moving for, and Leah is the one person who passes through Mara’s defences without forcing the door.

The series is currently in English. Viewers have been asking for Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French versions, and further dubbed languages are planned in response to audience demand. This website is already available in all five languages and switches automatically to your browser’s language.

Yes — AI is used as a production tool, not as the author. Every episode starts with conventional story development: scene structure, full dialogue and a defined emotional beat. Only once the script is locked does production move into AI-assisted image and video generation. The concept, script, dialogue, pacing, performance direction, camera choices and final edit are human decisions. Read more on the Behind the Scenes page.

Almost Out Loud is created by Cristina Rodríguez, who writes, directs and edits the series and composes its original soundtrack. It is an independent project.

It refers to the characters: Mara and Leah are adult women with accumulated history. Their sexuality is part of who they are, not the central conflict — the tension comes from vulnerability, timing and the fear of changing a relationship that already matters.
